4 eyes? Or would this be 12 eyes?

I got some news glasses the other day. On online friend mentioned that she knew someone who had bought glasses from Zenni Optical and it was much less expensive than going through the optician’s.  When I got my new prescription, I made sure that i would be able to use it to order glasses online.  All  I had to do was upload a photo of myself, enter int he pupil distance that the doctor measured and then I tried on hundreds of glasses virtually. I picked out three pairs for $70. Now I can keep a pair in my car so if my contacts start to bother me, I can take them out and still be able to see.

New52: Week One

I scrapped a page for my first “new” thing this year. My best friend got me The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series for Christmas. We typically like the same books, but this one is very different that what I have been currently reading. I even told that if it didn’t come from her recommendation, I would have probably given up. But now that I am halfway into the book, I am hooked!

Journaling reads:

New 52: week One: This week I began reading “The
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” It is a best seller so
that shouldn’t seem to outrageous and new. However.
What made it new and different to me is the style
of writing the author uses. He is very detailed
and descriptive. The  first half of the book almost
seems to plod along in the details. Recently, most
of the books I have been reading are very fast-paced
high action, and not a lot of brain power needed to
be able to enjoy the book thoroughly.
I have been reading the Stephanie Plum series, the
Sookie Stackhouse series and the Hunger Games
trilogy. All of those could be read in a couple of
afternoons. “Dragon Tattoo” is the opposite of those
books, but because I want to try something new,
I am sticking with it.

New52: Brainstorming Change

So yeah…Peppermint, over at Frick on a Stick, (is that not the best blog name ever??) started a New52 deal (no, it has nothing to do with FDR) for the new year. Try out something new each week, and document it in some way. I know that some weeks it is going to be easy to find something new, others- I might be scraping the bottom of the barrel. I don’t think using a new toothbrush it what Peppermint has in mind as “inspiring.”

So I am going to brainstorm here. Feel free to add any ideas as comments. I’d love to hear them.

  1. try a new recipe
  2. read a new author
  3. read a new book genre
  4. research a period of history
  5. research or read about an artist
  6. new photography technique
  7. new scrap technique
  8. listen to a new band
  9. find and read a poem
  10. write a poem
  11. call or email a friend I haven’t spoken to in a long time
  12. try another new recipe!
  13. Try a new exercise routine
  14. A new shade of lipstick
  15. New haircut or color

That gets me through a couple of months. I’ll keep adding on to this list as I think of them. Unless I think of them in the middle of the night, which is when I think of most of my neat things, and promptly forget then in the morning….

What will you do new?
